[Life Intended] What I learned from Bobbi Brown last week

Hi Reader,

Last Friday, I sat in a room full of women as Bobbi Brown (yes, that Bobbi Brown!) received the Style Icon Award at Dress for Success of the Palm Beaches.

You might expect a polished, scripted acceptance speech for an award like that.

But instead, Bobbi took the stage, sat down, and had a conversation.

She was asked about her career pivots, leaving her namesake brand, and what she’s learned along the way.

And then she said something that stuck with me:

"I DO know what my impact has been, but I don't know what it's going to be."

Read that again.

How often do we let our past define us?

Or maybe even worse, think that our story or legacy has already been written?

We all carry stories.

Some are victories, some are failures. Some are filled with pride and others are filled with regret.

But what if you viewed your past as a launchpad instead of an anchor?

What if the missteps, the detours, the losses, and the doubts weren’t proof of why you can’t… but evidence of why you can?

🔶 That failed business? You learned more than you ever could have from success.
🔶 That relationship that fell apart? It taught you exactly what you need (and won’t settle for).
🔶 That time you didn’t believe in yourself? You still made it through and now you know better.

Your past only has as much power as you give it.

It can either weigh you down or propel you forward.

Here’s what I want you to think about this week:

  • What’s one experience from your past that you’ve framed as a failure? What if you looked at it as training instead?
  • What if the things that felt like endings were actually the first chapters of something bigger?
  • What if everything you’ve been through wasn’t proof of why you should hold back but evidence that you’re stronger, wiser, and more ready than ever?
  • What if life isn't happening TO you, but it's happening FOR you? (you may have heard me say that before:))

Your impact isn’t behind you.

It’s unfolding right now.

Your past isn't holding you back.

It’s setting you up for what’s next.

And just like Bobbi said, you may not know what it’s going to be but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to be brilliant.

Have a great week!

Hi Reader, Last Friday, during our Friday Reset Coaching Call, we asked three questions that created some great opportunity for reflection and conversation: 🔶 Who am I trying to be for others?🔶 What part of me is getting lost while doing that?🔶 What do I want to believe about myself that I still struggle to? These questions hit hard because…they’re real. The answers to them for each of us reveal just how much of our identity is borrowed, shaped, or filtered through what we think others need...

Hi Reader, You know that feeling when you're working on something and feel completely energized, like you could keep going for hours? And then there are those other things you do that leave you feeling drained, heavy, and unmotivated. That’s not a coincidence. Your energy isn’t just about how much sleep you got or how much coffee you drank, it’s deeply connected to what you’re doing, who you’re around, and how you spend your time. And if we want to live intentionally, we have to start paying...

Hi Reader, The clocks have changed. The days are stretching longer. Spring is just around the corner. This time of year always feels like an exciting shift. There's more sunlight, the air smells brighter and the world is stretching towards the sun. Nature is waking up. These changes that have become so familiar to us over our lives are a reminder that growth is natural, but also that it happens in seasons. And just because the earth is moving into spring doesn’t mean we all feel like we’re in...
