[Life Intended] If one hour can disrupt everything, maybe it’s time to rethink more than the clock.

Hi Reader,

This weekend, we lose an hour.

One small shift, and suddenly, our schedules feel off, our bodies feel sluggish, and our sense of time feels disoriented.

If one hour can cause this much disruption, maybe it's time to rethink more than the clock, huh?

Most of us are running on borrowed time. We're sacrificing rest, energy, and personal priorities because we feel like there’s never enough.

But what if the problem isn’t time itself, but how we’ve been taught to use it?

We’ve absorbed the idea that if we just planned better, worked harder, optimized more, we could finally catch up.

Except…there’s no catching up.

Because the problem isn’t how much time we have. It’s how much of it was never truly ours to begin with.

Women carry an invisible labor load that no planner, time-blocking system, or morning routine can fix.

What is invisible labor? Think of it as the mental tabs we keep open at all times.

It's the things we anticipate, track, and manage that don’t show up on a to-do list like planning, buying, remembering, coordinating and managing emotions. It's the DOING.

And when we feel stretched thin, we’re told to be more efficient. To squeeze more into the same 24 hours.

We’re not just losing an hour this weekend. We’ve been losing ourselves for our entire lives in the way we give away our time.

While most of us can’t just upend our schedules or disappear for a week to “reset”, we can start making different choices inside the time we do have.

Instead of trying to "find more time", what if you protected what’s already there? Here are a few ways you can begin reclaiming your time in small, practical ways.

  • Where can you stop over-explaining? Time isn’t just spent in meetings or completing your to-dos. It’s lost in justifying your decisions, choices, and needs. What if you just…didn’t do that?
  • Where can you leave space between things? Every moment doesn’t have to be accounted for. What if you stopped treating open time as something to fill? (Spoiler alert - new podcast episode coming soon about "margins" that will be really helpful here!)
  • Where can you drop something without guilt? Not everything is urgent. Not everything requires your immediate attention. What if you let something go?
  • Where do you feel rushed when you don't need to be? Slowing down when rushing isn't necessary is really important for regulating your nervous system. And when you approach everything else from a more controlled state, things begin to feel more effortless. (Try driving the speed limit everywhere you go this week and see how that changes how you feel!)

There’s nothing to fix right now. I just want you to pay attention and notice.

Because before we can reclaim our time, we have to first realize how much of it we’ve already given away.

Oh, and enjoy that extra hour of daylight! That's important too!

Hi Reader, Hi friends, One year ago today, I released the very first episode of the Life Intended podcast. Honestly, I hit “publish” with more questions than answers. Would anyone listen? Would they like it? Would they feel inspired? And now, a year later with dozens of powerful conversations, thousands of downloads, and an entire community built around the idea of living more intentionally I can say: it was absolutely worth it. This podcast has changed me.It has given me the courage to own...

Hi Reader, The personal growth world can be loud. And crowded. Fix this. Heal that. Optimize everything. Read this. Listen to that. Adopt this routine. Before you know it, you’re knee-deep in a list of all the things you need to change and all the ways you need to “improve.” But here’s the shift no one talks about:You don’t need more improvement. You need more self-leadership. Here’s the difference: Self-Improvement says: “You’re broken. Let’s fix you.”Self-Leadership says: “You’re whole....

Hey Reader, Have you ever looked around at your life - the job, the schedule, the relationships - and thought:"I have so much to be grateful for…why do I feel so off?" If that’s you right now, you're not alone. A lot of women, especially high-functioning, thoughtful, get-it-done women are quietly carrying a deep, unspoken question: Who am I right now? Not the role you play at work. Not the version of you your family depends on.Not the reliable one, or the productive one, or the one who holds...
