[Life Intended] What does it really mean to lead yourself?

Hi Reader,

You’ll hear us talk a lot about Self-leadership, which really starts with self awareness. This is a life skill typically not taught in school so as adults when we go through any transition, or feel pulled to change in some way, it’s hard.

Becoming honest with yourself is an important step to cultivating self-awareness, through the quiet, everyday check-ins where you pause and ask:

  • What do I actually care about?
  • What's draining me?
  • What energizes me?
  • What feels out of alignment?

You don’t need to have it all figured out to start. But when you begin answering those questions with curiosity (not judgment), something shifts.

You start hearing your own voice more clearly. You notice what’s out of alignment and feel less afraid to name it. You stop waiting for someone else to give you permission to live differently.

This is what we teach inside Awaken.
We take you from awareness to action.
From noticing the misalignment to practicing something new.
From knowing something has to change…to actually changing it.

And it doesn’t happen through big, dramatic moves.
It happens in the micro-moments:

  • Pausing before saying yes to something that doesn’t feel right
  • Setting a boundary and sitting with the discomfort of honoring it
  • Closing your laptop when you need rest even if the work isn’t finished
  • Choosing a nourishing meal and actually slowing down to eat it
  • Asking for help (and letting yourself receive it)

These small shifts become your scaffolding. Over time, they create a life that feels more grounded, more honest, and more aligned. And doesn't that sound nice? I let out a big exhale just thinking about it.

Self-leadership isn’t just a mindset. It’s a practice.
And we’re here to walk with you as you build it.

That’s exactly why we created Awaken.
A 6-week small group experience for women ready to reconnect with their voice, their values, and their inner authority.

You’ll learn to:

  • Trust yourself again (even when it’s hard)
  • Set boundaries that reflect your worth
  • Take action from alignment, not obligation
  • And stop waiting for permission to live your life on your terms

We begin June 5.
And we’d love for you to take this journey with us.

Hey Reader, Do you ever find yourself losing it over something small, then wondering, “Uhhhh, what just happened?” Sadie and I have both been there. That’s actually how this week’s conversation started on the podcast: with a story about sunglasses, a slammed door, and very big feelings that didn’t make sense…until they did. Here’s what we’ve both learned on our journeys (the hard way): Most of us were never taught how to really feel our emotions, let alone understand them. We’re taught to...

Hey Reader, Have you ever confused approval with love? Think about that for a moment. That’s a big question. If we're honest, I think most of us have, at some point. We’re taught to be good, impressive, selfless, pleasing. We earn gold stars and praise and think, this must be love. But what if it’s not? This week’s podcast conversation is one we’re still thinking about and honestly, a message we think a lot of women need to hear. Ashley Jordan, lawyer, journalist and author of Unhappy...

Hey Reader, At some point, most of us start to feel a quiet discomfort…A sense that the life we’re living doesn’t quite match who we are.But it can be hard to name what’s wrong because on paper, things seem fine. In this week’s Life Intended podcast, Sadie and I are unpacking something that sits at the root of that feeling: identity. We’re talking about: – The early labels we absorb (“the good one,” “the strong one,” “the achiever”) – The ways we wear masks to fit into roles that were never...
